The Booth Western Art Museum houses the largest permanent exhibition space for Western art in the United States and is the second largest art museum in Georgia. Additional accolades include being a Smithsonian Institution Affiliate and inclusion in the Museums West consortium. The 120,000 square foot museum allows visitors to See America's Story through Contemporary Western art, Civil War art, more than 200 Native American artifacts, a Presidential Gallery, and the Sagebrush Ranch - an interactive children's gallery.

With an emphasis on Western artwork, much of the museum depicts Western culture as seen through the eyes of artists from the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries. Visitors viewing paintings and sculpture in the Enduring Traditions gallery experience a 100 year overview of early Western art with examples of work by George Catlin, Charles M. Russell, Frederic Remington and more. This historic overview provides the perfect jumping off point to explore the museum's premier collection of work by living artists including Howard Terpning, Ken Riley, Martin Grelie and others, as well as contemporary trendsetters Thom Ross, Nelson Boren, Billy Scheck, Donna Howell-Sickles, and many more. A two-story sculpture court, two authentic stage coaches, and more than 200 Native American artifacts round out the story of the historic American West.

The museum also boasts a Presidential gallery with a photograph and original signed letter from all 43 United States Presidents, and a Civil War gallery which chronicles the greatest conflict in our nation's history. Sagebrush Ranch has interactive and educational exhibits related to art and Western culture, which visitors of all ages find both entertaining and enlightening.

Temporary and special exhibition galleries host traveling art exhibitions throughout the year. Additional features include a 250-seat banquet hall available for special events; a 140-seat theater available for lectures, artist's discussions, roundtable panels and film screenings; and an orientation theatre where the award-winning film The American West is shown throughout the day.

Be sure to visit to the museum shop for books on art and Western culture, as well as prints and other items featuring Western art images. Museum members and visitors may enjoy coffee, pastries and light lunches in the cafe.

Hours: Tuesday-Wednesday and Friday-Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Thursday 10 a.m.-8 p.m., and Sunday 1-5 p.m. Closed Mondays.
Admission Price: Members free, $10 adults, $8 senior citizens age 65+, $7 students, children ages 12 & under and military with ID admitted free.

Directions: I-75 Exit 288, GA 113 south (due west), approximately 2 miles to downtown Cartersville. Turn right on Gilmer Street. Museum is two blocks ahead on the left. Parking is on the right.
